You can remove objects such as trees, bushes, grass, and rocks. To do this, tap the object - the number that will appear represents the amount of energy required to remove it, and the amount of items you will receive for doing so.

In the example above, chopping down the palm requires 35 energy, and you will receive 35 palm leaves for doing so.

Tap the object again, and you will start removing it.
