If you want to start playing the game from the beginning, there are two ways to do so in Taonga:

  • reinstall the game
  • clear application data (for game versions above 1.6.7)

Keep in mind that once you reset your progress using one of these methods, all of your achievements, resources, payments, and accumulated experience will be deleted without the possibility of recovery. Therefore, we recommend doing this only if you are determined to start the game from the beginning. If you are having any trouble at all, please let us know. We will be happy to help!

If you do decide to start over, we recommend using the instructions below:

1. Choose a way that works best for you:

  • In order to reinstall the game, you first need to uninstall it from your device. To do this, hold down the application icon for some time and select “Uninstall” from the pop-up menu.

    After that, open the Play Store, type “Taonga Island Adventure” into the search box, go to the app page and install the game. Wait for installation to complete.
  • In order to clear the data, you need to hold down the application icon for some time and select the “i” next to the header.

    This will show the information about the installed application. Make sure your current game version is not older than 1.6.7 by going to the very bottom of the page (or go to the Play Store, Description > About > Version).
    Then select “Storage” under “Usage” and tap “Clear data” in the window that appears.

2. Open the Taonga app. You'll be asked which Google account you'd like to use in the game. If you select an account to which you've previously linked your game, your old game progress will load again. To resolve this, open the game settings (tap the cogwheel icon in the top right corner for that), tap the green "Connected" button and confirm that you'd like to disconnect your Google account. The game will then reload and start from the beginning. Alternatively, you can choose not to select a Google account upon entering the game, then the game will start from the beginning right away. To do that, simply tap the area around the account selection window, and it will close.

If you choose to link your progress to one of the accounts that the old game was linked to, you will see the following window when:

You need to select “Keep”, then the new game will be assigned to your profile and you won’t lose the subsequent progress, while the old one will be permanently deleted.

If you select “Download”, your old progress will be downloaded from the cloud and the process will have to be repeated.
